Reading Article Reflection
Reading is a key skill we all improve on while growing up in life. Since we all have different reading abilities, some people have trouble with literacy. I feel as though I have been taught well with my literacy and can read pretty well.
While reading, I feel like the most important rule is to reread pages if you don't understand what the page was saying. It's very important to fully understand what the text is saying and if you skip over, it doesn't help your learning. Also, having a dictionary near by while reading is helpful so that you can look up words when needed. Just as before, if you pass over a word that you don't understand, you won't fully determine what is happening in a sentence.
I feel I read at the same pace for all reading assignments. I read carefully through everything, making sure that I don't miss any key information. I feel like when the text is boring or not appealing to me, I tend to read faster or skip over a few lines. That makes me a weaker reader because I'm trying to get done with the reading so fast and I am not understanding all of the information given.
The document taught me many good tips to use when I read and good ways to focus on the information. It taught me me that instead of ignoring or rushing text, to open up the opportunity to learn more. Also, I learned that intellectual courage is in every kind of of literacy and it's one of the most important skills of all.
Annotating wasn't that hard for me to jump into. I have been annotating books ever since middle school, so I am very used to it. I found it a little struggling sometimes when I didn't fully understand what was happening in the story. I wanted to write an annotation, but I wasn't completely sure I knew what had happened. Annotating was very important and I love it because it helps me find whatever I need to find fast. The annotations helped my reading experience because I pay more attention to the storyline so I can write what's going on along the sign. This experience will help me so much in my future reading strategies because I have learned so much. I learned how to be an even better reader and how to keep my full attention on the text.
